Maltol-3-O-(4'-O-p-coumaroyl-6'-O-(3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaroyl))-β-glucopyranoside is a sortase A inhibitor of Streptococcus mutans, with an IC50 value of 94.3 μM. Maltol-3-O-(4'-O-p-coumaroyl-6'-O-(3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaroyl))-β-glucopyranoside inhibits saliva-induced aggregation of Streptococcus mutans. Maltol-3-O-(4'-O-p-coumaroyl-6'-O-(3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaroyl))-β-glucopyranoside can be used in caries-related research[1].

In Vitro

Maltol-3-O-(4'-O-p-coumaroyl-6'-O-(3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaroyl))-β-glucopyranoside (compound 1) inhibits recombinant Streptococcus mutans OMZ65 sortase A with an IC50 of 94.3 μM[1].
Maltol-3-O-(4'-O-p-coumaroyl-6'-O-(3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaroyl))-β-glucopyranoside (up to 345.9 μM) does not inhibit Streptococcus mutans OMZ65 cell growth, with an MIC >345.9 μM[1].
