IFN alpha 1a Protein, synthesized by macrophages, possesses potent antiviral activities. Its primary role involves the stimulation of two pivotal enzymes—a protein kinase and an oligoadenylate synthetase. This orchestrated molecular response plays a crucial part in enhancing the host's immune defenses against viral threats.

1.Measure by its ability to protect L929 cells infected with encephalomyocarditis (EMC) virus. The ED₅₀ for this effect is <10 pg/mL. The specific activity of recombinant mouse IFN alpha 1a is >4 x10⁷ IU/mg.
2.Measured by its binding ability in a functional ELISA. Immobilized Mouse IFNA1 at 5 μg/mL (100 μL/well) on the plate can bind Biotinylated Human IFN-alpha R2 (HY-P74860). The KD for this effect is 0.977 μM.
