Cathepsin D is an intracellular aspartic protease of the pepsin superfamily. Cathepsin D is synthesized on the rough endoplasmic reticulum as a pre-pro-enzyme. Cathepsin D is sorted to the lysosomal compartments mainly by M-6-P pathway. Cathepsin D Protein, Cricetulus griseus (His-SUMO) is the recombinant Cathepsin D protein, expressed by E. coli , with N-6*His, N-SUMO labeled tag.

Description

Cathepsin D is an intracellular aspartic protease of the pepsin superfamily. Cathepsin D is synthesized on the rough endoplasmic reticulum as a pre-pro-enzyme. Cathepsin D is sorted to the lysosomal compartments mainly by M-6-P pathway. Cathepsin D Protein, Cricetulus griseus (His-SUMO) is the recombinant Cathepsin D protein, expressed by E. coli , with N-6*His, N-SUMO labeled tag.

Background

Cathepsin D is over-expressed and hyper-secreted by epithelial breast cancer cells. Cathepsin D is an independent marker of poor prognosis in breast cancer. Cathepsin D is also a key mediator of induced-apoptosis and its proteolytic activity has been involved generally in this event[1].
