Ebola virus VP24 Protein (AHX24653, His)

Ebola virus VP24 Protein is an IFN antagonist, and mediates nucleocapsid assembly. VP24 inhibits IFN-activated signaling by preventing nuclear import of STAT1 via competitive binding to nuclear import receptors (karyopherins). VP24 can interact with NP and is essential for nucleocapsid formation and packaging into the virion^[1][2][3]. Ebola virus VP24 Protein (AHX24653, His) is the recombinant Virus-derived Ebola virus VP24 protein, expressed by E. coli , with N-His labeled tag.

Ebola virus (EBOV) possesses a single-stranded, negative sense RNA genome of approximately 19 kilobases that encodes seven structural proteins: the nucleoprotein (NP), VP35, VP40, the glycoprotein (GP), VP30, VP24, and the RNA-dependent RNA polymerase L^[1]. VP24 is one of two proteins of the ebolaviruses that can antagonize IFN responses (the other is VP35). VP24 inhibits signaling downstream of IFNα/β and IFNγ, by trapping karyopherin α proteins (α1, α5 and α6) in the cytoplasm, and prevents them from shuttling otherwise activated, phosphorylated STAT1 to the nucleus. VP24 also prevents phosphorylation of p38 MAPK^[2][3]. Besides, the interaction between NP and VP24 is essential for nucleocapsid formation and packaging into the virion^[1]. VP24 is a critical target in the development of anti-EBOV agents.
