  • Western blot analysis of extracts from M-intestine (lane 1) and M-lung (lane 2) using CK18 antibody. Proteins were transferred to a PVDF membrane and blocked with 5% nonfat powdered milk in PBST for 2 hour at room temperature. The primary antibody (1/1000) and loading control antibody (GAPDH, 1/3000) was diluted with 5% nonfat powdered milk in PBST at 4°C overnight. Goat Anti-Rabbit IgG-HRP Secondary Antibody (1/8,000) was incubated for 45min at room temperature.

Background
Function：Involved in the uptake of thrombin-antithrombin complexes by hepatic cells (By similarity). When phosphorylated, plays a role in filament reorganization. Involved in the delivery of mutated CFTR to the plasma membrane. Together with KRT8, is involved in interleukin-6 (IL-6)-mediated barrier protection

Expression：
Tissue_specificity:It is expressed in the colon, placenta, and liver, with very weak expression at the external os of the cervix. Increased expression has been observed in breast cancer lymph nodes.

Induction:By IL6/interleukin-6
Subunit：Heterotetramer of two type I and two type II keratins. KRT18 associates with KRT8 (PubMed:10852826, PubMed:24940650). Interacts with PLEC isoform 1C, when in a heterodimer with KRT8 (PubMed:24940650).
