CD146/MCAM Protein, Human (HEK293, Fc)

The CD146/MCAM protein is critical for maintaining endothelial monolayer integrity and cell adhesion in vascular tissue. Its expression promotes the interaction of melanoma cells with the vasculature and may contribute to tumor spread through the bloodstream. CD146/MCAM Protein, Human (HEK293, Fc) is the recombinant human-derived CD146/MCAM protein, expressed by HEK293 , with C-hFc labeled tag.

The CD146/MCAM protein plays a crucial role in cell adhesion and maintaining the integrity of the endothelial monolayer at intercellular junctions in vascular tissue. Its expression enables melanoma cells to interact with the cellular components of the vascular system, potentially promoting the spread of tumors through the bloodstream. During embryonic development, CD146/MCAM may function as an adhesion molecule in neural crest cells. It acts as a surface receptor, initiating the tyrosine phosphorylation of FYN and PTK2/FAK1, and leading to a transient rise in intracellular calcium levels.

Measured by its binding ability in a functional ELISA. When Recombinant Human MCAM/CD146 is immobilized at 1 μg/mL can bind Biotinylated Human Galectin-3 (HY-P70171). The ED₅₀ for this effect is 4.83 μg/mL.
