In Vivo

Magnesium citrate (66 mg/kg; oral gavage; single dose) can increase the pain threshold in mice[1].

Animal Model: Male Balb-c mice[1]
Dosage: 66 mg/kg
Administration: Oral gavage; single dose
Result: Increased the pain threshold of mice, especially 4 hours after administration.
Decreased motor conduction velocity decreased in the early stage (4-8 hours) and then increased at 24 hours.
Decreased forelimb grip strength at 4, 8, and 24 hours.
Increased locomotor activity at 4 and 8 hours in the open-field test.
Decreased TLR4 expression in the brain, increased TLR4 expression in the sciatic nerve, and caused no significant change in the dorsal root ganglia and muscle tissue.
