Background
Calcium chloride anhydrous, for cell culture induces abdominal aortic aneurysm by increasing aortic macrophage infiltration, expression of proinflammatory cytokines, and apoptosis of vascular smooth muscle cells (SMCs).
Specific Modeling Methods
C57BL/6 mice • Male • 12 weeks old
Administration: 0.5 mol/L • 0.5 mol/L CaCl2-containing cotton gauze was applied to the outer surface of the aorta for 15 minutes. The aorta was flushed with 0.9% sterile saline and the incision was sutured.
Modeling Indicators
Phenotypic observation: Increase in aortic diameter > 20%.
