Hexapeptide-9 (administered transdermally; 8 weeks) exhibits anti-aging activity in a photoaging mouse model. It can reduce ultraviolet-induced oxidative stress, inflammatory response, as well as skin thickening and roughness. It significantly alleviates the increase in MDA caused by ultraviolet exposure, prevents the decline in SOD activity and hydroxyproline levels. The effect is more remarkable when used in combination with GALA (composed of γ-aminobutyric acid and lactic acid). The mechanism involves the activation of the PPAR signaling pathway[2].
