Indolmycin  (Synonyms: TAK-083; PA-155A)

Indolmycin (TAK-083), an antibiotic, is a competitive inhibitor of prokaryotic tryptophanyl-tRNA synthetase (TrpS). Indolmycin (TAK-083) possesses both anti-viral and anti-bacterial activity^[1][2][3].

Indolmycin was bacteriostatic and demonstrated good activity against MSSA (methicillinsusceptible Staphylococcus aureus), MRSA (methicillin-resistant S. aureus) and VISA (vancomycinintermediate S. aureus), including strains resistant to mupirocin or fusidic acid. Indolmycin MICs for 20 strains ranged from 8 to 32 mg/L, whereas a single strain exhibited high-level resistance (MIC 128 mg/L)^[2].
