BAPTA tetrasodium is widely used as an intracellular buffer to investigate the effects caused by Ca²⁺ release from intracellular calcium stores or Ca²⁺ influx via Ca²⁺-permeable channels in the plasma membrane^[1].
BAPTA tetrasodium can be introduced into cells via methods such as patch-clamp and microinjection^[1].
BAPTA tetrasodium inhibits PLC activity in isolated Drosophila melanogaster photoreceptor cells with an IC₅₀ of approximately 8 mM^[2].
