Beschreibung

Dihydrostreptomycin sulfate (DHSM sulfate) is the sulfate salt form of Dihydrostreptomycin (HY-B1241A). Dihydrostreptomycin sulfate is an aminoglycoside antibiotic with antibacterial effect against Gram-negative bacteria. Dihydrostreptomycin sulfate exhibits ototoxicity that causes irreversible damage in inner ear hair cells, leading to hearing loss[1].

Dihydrostreptomycin sulfate blocks mechanoelectric transduction channels, induces increased intracellular calcium concentrations, and leads to the obstruction of auditory signal transmission[1].

In Vivo

Dihydrostreptomycin sulfate (600 mg/kg, ip, once daily for 12 days) induces spiral ligament damage in mice, promotes the proliferation of spiral ligament cells in the mouse cochlea, and the expression of FGF receptors and connexin 43 in the spiral ligament[2].
