Rectal administration of a single dose of 2,4-Dinitrobenzenesulfonic acid sodium salt (48.0 mg) induces severe colitis in male Sprague-Dawley rats, which is characterized by increased colonic injury scores, enhanced MPO activity, elevated levels of inflammatory mediators, and upregulated expression of endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress marker proteins[2].
Sodium salt of 2,4-Dinitrobenzenesulfonic acid (1 mL/kg; intracolonic administration; single dose) induces severe ulcerative colitis in male Sprague-Dawley rats, which is characterized by increased levels of pro-inflammatory and oxidative stress markers, impaired antioxidant function, and extensive colonic tissue damage[3].
