Description & Advantages
Sodium Pyruvate (α-ketopropionic acid sodium salt, 2-oxopropanoic acid sodium salt, pyruvic acid sodium salt) is a commonly used and important supplement in cell culture. In addition to glucose, sodium pyruvate is frequently added to culture media as an alternative carbon source to help reduce lactate accumulation caused by reliance on glucose as the sole energy substrate. As sodium pyruvate is a key intermediate metabolite in the glycolytic pathway, it is not considered an essential component for cell culture; however, supplementation with sodium pyruvate in either low-glucose or high-glucose culture media can promote cell growth and improve overall cell condition.
MCE Sodium Pyruvate Solution (100 mM) contains 100 mM (11 g/L) sodium pyruvate and is ready for direct use in cell culture applications. The recommended working concentration is 1 mM, corresponding to a 1:100 dilution prior to use.
Protokoll
Directly add Sodium Pyruvate Solution (100 mM) to sterile cell culture medium at a ratio of 1:100 (v/v), mix thoroughly, and use as required.
Note: The working concentration may be further optimized according to specific experimental requirements.
