BeRST voltage sensitive dye
BeRST voltage sensitive dye is a silicon-rhodamine-based voltage-sensitive dye that serves as a membrane potential indicator, featuring fast response kinetics, high sensitivity, photostability, and excellent signal-to-noise ratio. BeRST voltage sensitive dye relies on the photoinduced electron transfer (PeT) mechanism to report changes in neuronal membrane potential via fluorescent signals. BeRST voltage sensitive dye localizes to the extracellular surface of neuronal plasma membranes, including cell bodies and neurites. BeRST voltage sensitive dye can be used in studies related to Alzheimer's disease (Ex/Em = 658/683 nm).

BeRST voltage sensitive dye (BeRST 1) (0.1-1 µM; 20 min loading, 7 days chronic amyloid beta exposure) enables high-fidelity, high-throughput optical recording of action potentials and network connectivity in dissociated rat hippocampal neurons, with near-perfect correlation to patch-clamp electrophysiology, and reliably detects changes in neuronal activity and connectivity following pharmacological inhibition, chronic amyloid beta 1-42 exposure, and developmental maturation[1].
BeRST voltage sensitive dye (500 nM; 30 min) enables high-temporal-resolution voltage imaging of dissociated 14-16 DIV rat hippocampal neurons, detecting action potentials in single trials and revealing that β-hydroxybutyrate treatment significantly reduces neuronal firing frequency, particularly in cells with lower intrinsic firing rates[2].
