It is commonly used in the production of detergents, emulsifiers and surfactants for various industrial applications. Dimethyldioctylammonium bromide is highly surface active and reduces the surface tension of aqueous solutions, so it can be used to clean and wet surfaces. In addition, it can also be used as an intermediate in the synthesis of other quaternary ammonium compounds.
