About FIRRE

Cytogenetic location: Xq26.2 Genomic coordinates (GRCh38): X:131,691,525-131,830,643 (from NCBI)

This gene has 17 transcripts (splice variants). Low expression observed in reference dataset.

Summary

This gene produces a long RNA containing a repeating sequence. This RNA interacts with heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein U and coats chromosomes, where it plays an important role in the maintenance of repressive chromatin. This transcript can also act post-transcriptionally to regulate the stability of mRNAs during the innate immune response. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2017]
