UIMC1 - ubiquitin interaction motif containing 1 Gene
Also Known as RAP80
Species: Bos taurus
Summary
This gene encodes a member of the RAP80 family of proteins, which are characterized by two tandem ubiquitin-interacting motifs (UIMs). The encoded protein is a subunit of the BRCA1-A complex and functions to recruit this complex to sites of DNA double-strand breaks through its ability to bind poly-ubiquitin chains found at these sites. Homozygous knockout mice for this gene exhibit enhanced sensitivity to ionizing radiation and risk for B-cell lymphoma and impaired DNA double-strand break repair. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2015]
