N,N,N',N'-Tetraacetylethylenediamine reacts with sodium percarbonate in water to produce peracetic acid with strong oxidative bactericidal activity. This reaction is environmentally friendly, and the final degradation products are sodium carbonate, acetic acid, ammonia, carbon dioxide, oxygen and water .
