BHMTPMP (Bis(hexamethylenetriaminepenta(methylenephosphonic acid))) is a polyphosphonate scale inhibitor with activity against barium sulfate precipitation. BHMTPMP delays nucleation and precipitation of barium sulfate in supersaturated brine solutions. BHMTPMP acts across wide ranges of saturation indices, temperatures, pH values, and brine compositions. BHMTPMP exhibits reduced inhibition efficiency with elevated saturation index and temperature, and enhanced efficiency with increased solution pH .
