Human CYP1A1 is a human cytochrome P450 subtype belonging to the CYP1 family, as well as a major metabolic enzyme. Its expression is concentrated in tissues such as lung, breast, placenta and endometrium, and it can metabolize polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and estrogens into carcinogenic intermediates with DNA-damaging activity .
