SFRP2 - secreted frizzled related protein 2 Gene

Also Known as FRP-2; SARP1; SDF-5

Species: Homo sapiens

Gene Type: protein coding
Gene ID: 6423

About SFRP2

Cytogenetic location: 4q31.3 Genomic coordinates (GRCh38): 4:153,780,591-153,789,083 (from NCBI)

This gene has 1 transcript (splice variant), 202 orthologues and 15 paralogues. Biased expression in urinary bladder (RPKM 276.9), gall bladder (RPKM 211.4) and 9 other tissues.

Summary

This gene encodes a member of the SFRP family that contains a cysteine-rich domain homologous to the putative Wnt-binding site of Frizzled proteins. SFRPs act as soluble modulators of Wnt signaling. Methylation of this gene is a potential marker for the presence of colorectal Cancer. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
