2,3-Diaminophenazine (2,3-Phenazinediamine) is an orally active amino derivative of phenazine. 2,3-Diaminophenazine can intercalate into DNA. 2,3-Diaminophenazine triggers photochemical reactions. 2,3-Diaminophenazine inhibits vascular hypertrophy and tissue AGE deposition in diabetic rats. 2,3-Diaminophenazine can be used for luminescence and diabetes research.

2,3-Diaminophenazine shows weak intercalative binding to double-stranded DNA with a binding constant Kb of 3.5 mM[3].
2,3-Diaminophenazine (13 μM) combined with visible light irradiation resulted in a 13-fold decrease in the lethal concentration 50 (LC50) in human skin fibroblasts (Hs-27) compared with dark conditions, indicating significant phototoxicity[3].
2,3-Diaminophenazine effectively inhibits the formation of AGEs with an IC50 range of 30-40 µM (HPLC and 14C-lysine method) or < 10 µM (ELISA method)[4].
