Licheninase
Licheninase (EC 3.2.1.73) is a glycoside hydrolase that acts on the β-glucan cell walls of cereals, fungal and seaweeds. Licheninase specifically hydrolyzes the β(1→4) linkages in mixed-linkage β(1→3)/β(1→4)-glucans. Licheninase promotes cellulose degradation.

Actividad biológica
Licheninase specifically hydrolyze mixed linkage β(1→3)/β(1→4)-glucans via a mechanism requiring β(1→3) linkages in subsites -2 and -1, producing a distinct set of limit digestion products compared to plant PtEG16[1].
Licheninase (1.0% (w/v) cellobiose; up to 48 h) hydrolyses both β-1,4 and β-1,3 glycosidic bonds, exhibits peak activity after 10 h of cellobiose-induced growth, and produces cellobiose, cellotriose, and glucose from β-glucan, with total sugar yield reaching maximum levels by 36 h of incubation[2].
