(Rac)-Metyrapol
Metyrapol is a steroid 11β-hydroxylase inhibitor. Metyrapol blocks the conversion of deoxycorticosterone to corticosterone in rat adrenal homogenates. Metyrapol can be used in the study of metabolic diseases.

Biological Activity
Racemic metyrapol (0.4 mM; 10 min preincubation, 5 min incubation), (-)-metyrapol, and (+)-metyrapol exhibit similar inhibitory activity on steroid 11β-hydroxylase in rat adrenal homogenates, with racemic metyrapol showing 40.8% inhibition at 0.4 mM[1].
