Desacetyl cephapirin
Desacetyl cephapirin is the active metabolite of Cephapirin (HY-A0153). Desacetyl cephapirin retains bactericidal activity by disrupting bacterial cell wall synthesis, but exhibits reduced antimicrobial activity, longer in vivo residual time, and high tissue retention. Desacetyl cephapirin can be used in studies related to Gram-positive bacterial infections.

Biological Activity
Desacetylcephapirin (0.03-64 µg/mL; 18-20 h) inhibits clinical and subclinical Staphylococcus aureus mastitis isolates with an MIC50 of 0.25 µg/mL and MIC90 of 0.50 µg/mL[1].
Desacetylcephapirin (0.03-64 µg/mL; 18-20 h) inhibits subclinical coagulase-negative staphylococci mastitis isolates with an MIC50 of 0.12 µg/mL and MIC90 of 0.25 µg/mL[1].
Desacetylcephapirin (0.03-64 µg/mL; 18-20 h) shows minimal activity against clinical Escherichia coli mastitis isolates, with 89.8% not inhibited at 64 µg/mL[1].
Desacetylcephapirin (0.008-64 µg/mL; 18-20 h) inhibits clinical Streptococcus dysgalactiae mastitis isolates with an MIC50 of 0.06 µg/mL and MIC90 of 0.06 µg/mL, and subclinical isolates with an MIC50 of 0.12 µg/mL and MIC90 of 0.12 µg/mL[1].
Desacetylcephapirin (0.008-64 µg/mL; 18-20 h) inhibits clinical and subclinical Streptococcus uberis mastitis isolates with an MIC50 of 0.50 µg/mL and MIC90 of 0.50 µg/mL[1].
Desacetyl cephapirin (0.1-1.0 ppm) formed via in vitro Cephapirin degradation demonstrates reliable recovery from beef muscle and kidney homogenates when cephapirin is spiked at concentrations of 0.1 ppm and 1.0 ppm[2].
