Synonyms: trans-10,cis-12 CLA2
(10E,12Z)-Octadeca-10,12-dienoic acid (trans-10,cis-12 CLA2) is an orally active PPARα activator and inhibits adipocyte differentiation. (10E,12Z)-Octadeca-10,12-dienoic acid and its downstream metabolites have various antioxidant and antitumor activities. (10E,12Z)-Octadeca-10,12-dienoic acid can induce proinflammatory cytokines and chemokines, which would lead to decreased adipogenesis and insulin resistance in adipose tissue. (10E,12Z)-Octadeca-10,12-dienoic acid can affect many aspects of milk fat synthesis. (10E,12Z)-Octadeca-10,12-dienoic acid reduces expression of lipogenic enzymes and inhibits the desaturation of fatty acids. (10E,12Z)-Octadeca-10,12-dienoic acid can reduce lipoprotein lipase (LPL) activity in cultured 3T3-L1 adipocytes and enhance triacylglycerol release from these cells. (10E,12Z)-Octadeca-10,12-dienoic acid decreases the expression of hepatic stearoyl-CoA desatyrase mRNA in mice. (10E,12Z)-Octadeca-10,12-dienoic acid is associated with changes in mucosal NF-κB and Cyclin D1 protein levels in mice .

CAS No.: 25182-74-5
Synonyms: all-cis-4,7,10,13,16-Docosapentaenoic acid
Docosapentaenoic acid (DPA) is a 22-carbon fatty acid found in fish oil. It is a minor component of total serum unsaturated fatty acids in humans, ranging from 0.1% to 1%, and increasing with dietary supplementation. all-cis-4,7,10,13,16-DPA, also known as Austrian acid, is an isomer of DPA. It is an omega-6 fatty acid formed by the extension and desaturation of arachidonic acid. During fatty acid desaturase syndrome, levels of this fatty acid may be reduced, which may affect development. Upregulated hepatic elongate expression of very long fatty acid protein 6 and elevated levels of very long chain fatty acids, including all-cis 4,7,10,13,16-DPA, are characteristic of nonalcoholic steatohepatitis, a precancerous disease of hepatocellular carcinoma.

Lipids are important energy storage substances in the human body. They are involved in the regulation of cell structure and function, as well as signaling pathways and gene expression. Abnormal lipid levels in tissues or their dysregulation can lead to various diseases. These include obesity, type 2 diabetes, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, neurodegenerative diseases, infections, and cancer. Therefore, maintaining normal levels of lipid metabolism is critical to overall health.

One of the key features of cancer is aberrant lipid metabolism. This includes alterations in lipid uptake, lipid desaturation, neolipogenesis, lipid droplets, and fatty acid oxidation in cancer cells. These changes all contribute to cellular survival in an ever-changing microenvironment. They do this by modulating feed-forward oncogenic signals and key oncogenic functions. Additionally, they affect oxidative stress, other types of stress, immune responses, and intercellular communication. Alterations in lipid metabolism have a strong impact on the properties of cancer stem cells. This includes aspects such as self-renewal, differentiation, invasion, metastasis, drug sensitivity, and resistance. Furthermore, these alterations also modulate T cell responses.

MCE can offer 148 metabolites of lipid metabolism pathways, which can be used for drug screening in cancer, immune-based diseases, metabolic diseases, and other diseases.
