Sorgoleone
Sorgoleone is a photosystem II inhibitor found in sorghum. Sorgoleone binds to the QB niche of the D1 protein, inhibits photosynthetic electron transport, and does not affect photosystem I reactions. Sorgoleone reduces radicle elongation and stunts growth. Sorgoleone inhibits CO2-dependent oxygen evolution, photosynthetic O2 evolution, and mitochondrial respiration. Sorgoleone can be used as a herbicide.

生物活性
Sorgoleone potently inhibits soil nitrification and nitrous oxide emissions from soil microbial communities, with a stronger suppressive effect on ammonia-oxidizing archaea than ammonia-oxidizing bacteria[1].
Sorgoleone (125-250 μM; 48 h) inhibits radicle elongation of Eragrostis tef seeds in vitro, with 250 μM causing near-complete inhibition[2].
Sorgoleone (50-100 μM; 7 days) inhibits growth and chlorophyll content of Lemna minor in vitro[2].
Sorgoleone (10-100 μM; 10 days) inhibits seedling growth of Abutilon theophrasti, Datura stramonium, Amaranthus retroflexus, Setaria viridis, Digitaria sanguinalis, and Echinochloa crusgalli in vitro, with inhibition severity increasing with concentration[2].
Sorgoleone (0.01-2 μM) potently inhibits PS II electron transport in isolated spinach thylakoid membranes with an IC50 of 0.10 μM[3].
Sorgoleone (0.031-2 μM; 3 min) competes with Atrazine (HY-N7091) for a shared binding site on spinach thylakoid membranes with a binding constant of 0.102 μM, confirming pure competitive inhibition[3].
Sorgoleone (0-2 μM; 3 min) competes with Atrazine for a shared binding site on triazine-susceptible redroot pigweed thylakoid membranes with a binding constant of 0.135 μM, but does not compete for binding on triazine-resistant redroot pigweed thylakoid membranes[3].
Sorgoleone (0-2 μM; 3 min) competes with Atrazine for a shared binding site on Atrazine-susceptible potato photoautotrophic cell thylakoid membranes with a binding constant of 0.182 μM, but does not compete for binding on atrazine-resistant potato thylakoid membranes[3].
