Srf - serum response factor Gene
Species: Mus musculus
Summary
Enables DNA-binding transcription activator activity, RNA polymerase II-specific; RNA polymerase II-specific DNA-binding transcription factor binding activity; and nucleic acid binding activity. Involved in actin Cytoskeleton organization and regulation of transcription by RNA polymerase II. Acts upstream of or within several processes, including animal organ development; blood vessel morphogenesis; and generation of neurons. Located in chromatin; cytoplasm; and nucleus. Is expressed in several structures, including blastocyst; branchial arch; future forebrain; genitourinary system; and salivary gland. Used to study dilated cardiomyopathy. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in cardiomyopathy and lymphangioleiomyomatosis. Orthologous to human SRF (serum response factor). [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Apr 2022]
