Ru(dpp)3(PF6)2 is a ruthenium (II) polypyridine complex and oxygen-sensing luminophore with excellent photostability and bright orange emission properties based on metal-to-ligand charge transfer (MLCT). Ru(dpp)3(PF6)2 undergoes oxygen-induced collisional luminescence quenching following the Stern-Volmer relationship, and can also engage in Förster-type resonance energy transfer with closed-form BTF6. Featuring excellent photophysical and electrochemical properties, Ru(dpp)3(PF6)2 is applied in studies on quenching-type oxygen sensors based on fluorinated ORMOSIL/xerogels and solid-state light-emitting devices.

Ru(dpp)3(PF6)2 displays solution-phase electrochemical and spectroscopic properties typical of ruthenium tris-diimine complexes, with a Ru²⁺/Ru³⁺ formal potential of 0.85 V vs. ferrocene, an MLCT absorption at 464 nm, and emission at 616 nm^[3].
Ru(dpp)3(PF6)2 (1.5×10^-9 mol cm^-2; 1 cycle scanned at 10 mV s^-1, up to 120 s potential pulsed) immobilized as microparticles on ITO electrodes undergo reversible, exhaustive oxidation of Ru²⁺ to Ru³⁺, characterized by a decrease in the 464 nm MLCT absorbance, growth of a 380 nm MC absorbance, an isosbestic point at 400 nm, and solid-state emission at 637 nm^[3].

Protocol 1

Add each solvent one by one: 10% DMSO 90% (20% SBE-β-CD in Saline)

Solubility: 2.5 mg/mL (1.80 mM); Suspended solution; Need ultrasonic

This protocol yields a suspended solution of 2.5 mg/mL. Suspended solution can be used for oral and intraperitoneal injection.

Taking 1 mL working solution as an example, add 100 μL DMSO stock solution (25.0 mg/mL) to 900 μL 20% SBE-β-CD in Saline, and mix evenly.

Protocol 2

Add each solvent one by one: 10% DMSO 90% Corn Oil

Solubility: 2.5 mg/mL (1.80 mM); Suspended solution; Need ultrasonic

This protocol yields a suspended solution of 2.5 mg/mL. Suspended solution can be used for oral and intraperitoneal injection.
