(Rac)-Preclamol exhibits autoreceptor agonistic activity at dopamine Dopamine Receptor, with almost no effect on postsynaptic dopamine receptors. (Rac)-Preclamol inhibits spontaneous motor activity and the γ-butyrolactone-induced increase in mature striatal Tyrosine Hydroxylase activity. (Rac)-Preclamol can be used in research related to neurological diseases.

(Rac)-Preclamol ((±)-3-PPP) (0.1-10 mg/kg; s.c.; single dose; 45 minutes prior to sacrifice (biochemical experiments)) dose-dependently reduces spontaneous locomotor activity and inhibits GBL-induced striatal DOPA accumulation in 28-day-old rats, with no significant effects on locomotion or striatal DOPA accumulation in rats younger than 14 days old^[1].

Lowered GBL-induced striatal DOPA accumulation from 1618 ng/g to 1127 ng/g in 28-day-old rats at 10 mg/kg and caused only trivial non-significant reduction in 4-day-old rats, without changing striatal and whole-brain DA, NA, DOPAC levels in either age group.
