Partricin B
Partricin B is an aromatic heptaene macrolide with antifungal and antiprotozoal activities. Partricin B interacts with cholesterol via the polyene side of the plane of its macrolide ring; its all-trans photoisomer interacts with cholesterol via the opposite region and shows no tendency to bind to the polyene region. Partricin B can be used in studies related to fungal infections.

Biological Activity
Partricin B interacts weakly with Cholesterol (Cholesterol (from animal)) (HY-N0322) via its polyene ring plane at a centre-of-mass distance of ~8 Å, and exhibits both weak polyene binding and stronger polyol-region binding with Ergosterol (HY-N0181) at centre-of-mass distances of ~8 Å and ~6 Å, respectively, in DPPC lipid bilayers[1].
Partricin B interacts with cholesterol via a region opposite to that preferred by native partricin B with shallow energetic minima, and interacts with ergosterol in a similar pattern to native partricin B but with ~3 kcal/mol weaker binding, in DPPC lipid bilayers[1].
Partricin B retroaldol reaction releases acetaldehyde and acetone in a molar ratio of 2-3:1[3].
