In Vitro

Palmitoylcarnitine (5-20 μM, 5 min) increases [Ca²⁺]i in a dose-dependent manner in adult rat cardiomyocytes, with 15 μM showing a significant and reversible effect without affecting cell viability^[2].
Palmitoylcarnitine (15 μM, 5 min) increases [Ca²⁺]i in adult rat cardiomyocytes through L-type Ca²⁺ channels, Na⁺-Ca²⁺ exchange, and sarcoplasmic reticulum Ca²⁺ release^[2].
Palmitoylcarnitine (5, 10 μM, overnight) inhibits Akt Ser473 phosphorylation and reduces insulin signaling in C2C12 cells^[3].

Palmitoylcarnitine (50 mg/kg, i.p., single dose) increases muscle long-chain acylcarnitine content and induces insulin resistance in CD-1 mice, characterized by hyperglycemia and reduced muscle glucose uptake^[3].
