Synonyms: Sodium hyposulfite (99%, water≤1.0%)
Sodium thiosulfate (Sodium hyposulfite) is an antioxidant. Sodium thiosulfate inhibits the expression of p-GSK-3β and β-catenin proteins, reduces IL-1β, COX-2, and Iba-1, and inhibits NFκB activation. Sodium thiosulfate promotes angiogenesis, inhibits inflammation, and improves acute lung injury. Sodium thiosulfate also exhibits anti-cancer activity against melanoma. Sodium thiosulfate also exerts renal protective effects. Sodium thiosulfate can be used in the research of osteoarthritis, brain inflammation, cancer (such as breast cancer, melanoma), and kidney disease .

Allyl thiosulfate (Sodium 2-propenyl thiosulfate) is found in Allium plants such as garlic and onion. Allyl thiosulfate can inhibit COX activity and reduce GSH concentration in platelets. Allyl thiosulfate exhibits anti-aggregatory and anti-cancer effects. Allyl thiosulfate can be used for the researches of cancer, inflammation and cardiovascular disease .

Sodium mercaptopyruvate serves as a substrate for Lactate dehydrogenase and Sulfurtransferase. Sodium mercaptopyruvate forms through enzymatic transamination and oxidative deamination of L-cysteine (HY-Y0337). Sodium mercaptopyruvate abolishes lactate dehydrogenase reaction activity. It increases urinary thiosulfate excretion, fails to sustain rat growth by replacing L-cystine (HY-N0394), and does not induce morbidity or mortality in mice. Sodium mercaptopyruvate is applicable to research related to 3-mercaptopyruvate disulfiduria and 3-mercaptolactate disulfiduria .

Isosulfazecin (iSZ) is a novel β-lactam antibiotic produced by Pseudomonas acidophilus sp., synthesized in a nutrient solution supplemented with glycerol and sodium thiosulfate under aerobic conditions in parallel with bacterial growth. It is purified by chromatography and crystallization from aqueous methanol. Physicochemical analysis determined its molecular formula to be C12H20N4O9S, showing a structure with a β-lactam ring, methoxyl and sulfonate groups. Acid hydrolysis yields L-alanine and D-glutamic acid. iSZ is a diastereomer of sulfadiazine and exhibits moderate activity against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, but potent activity against bacteria resistant to β-lactam antibiotics .
