It contains an azide group and undergoes copper-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAc) with molecules bearing an alkyne group. It also undergoes strain-driven alkyne-azide cycloaddition (SPAAC) with molecules containing DBCO or BCN groups .
