Definition:

Monoamine oxidase type B (MAOB) is a subform of Monoamine Oxidase. MAOB is mainly localized in astrocytes. MAOB metabolizes dopamine and is implicated in the generation of free radicals by dopamine. MAOB inhbitors can be used in the research of neurological disorders.
