Hookworm Infection

Hookworm infection is a parasitic disease caused by blood-feeding nematodes, primarily *Necator americanus* and *Ancylostoma duodenale*, which penetrate the skin through contact with contaminated soil, migrate to the intestines, and cause chronic blood loss leading to iron-deficiency anemia, hypochromic anemia, fatigue, and gastrointestinal symptoms. It is a major contributor to anemia and malnutrition, especially in low- and middle-income regions.
