Enables DNA-binding transcription activator activity, RNA polymerase II-specific and RNA polymerase II cis-regulatory region sequence-specific DNA binding activity. Involved in positive regulation of transcription, DNA-templated. Acts upstream of or within inner ear morphogenesis and positive regulation of transcription by RNA polymerase II. Predicted to be located in nucleolus. Is expressed in several structures, including alimentary system; metanephros; nervous system; sensory organ; and skeleton. Used to study Pendred Syndrome.
