Partricin A
Partricin A is an antimicrobial agent with affinity for ergosterol and cholesterol. Partricin A inhibits growth of fungal species and Trichomonas vaginalis. Partricin A induces hemolysis of rat erythrocytes. Partricin A causes acute toxicity in mice via intraperitoneal or intravenous administration. Partricin A serves as a starting material for synthesis of semisynthetic amide derivatives. Partricin A can be used for the research of fungal infections, trichomonas vaginalis infection.

Biological Activity
Partricin A (serial dilutions; 24-48 h) inhibits growth of Candida albicans strains LRM 73, LRM 200, and LRM 205 with minimum inhibitory concentrations ranging from 30 ng/mL (24 h, LB) to 120 ng/mL (48 h, SB)[1].
Partricin A (serial dilutions; 7 h) inhibits 50% of Saccharomyces cerevisiae LRM 167 growth with an IC50 of 2.1 ng/mL after 7 h incubation in liquid medium[1].
Partricin A (serial dilutions; 24-48 h, 4 days, 5 days) inhibits growth of Mucor sp. LRM 263 (MIC 1.2-2.4 μg/mL), Aspergillus niger LRM 374 (MIC 2.4 μg/mL), and Trichophyton mentagrophytes LRM 176 (MIC 2.4 μg/mL) in solid or liquid culture media[1].
Partricin A (serial dilutions; 48 h) inhibits growth of Trichomonas vaginalis LRM 415 with an MIC of 0.075 μg/mL after 48 h incubation in semisolid medium[1].
