Enzymatic hydrolysis of p-Nitrophenyl α-L-fucoside releases p-nitrophenol and α-L-fucose, where the latter undergoes mutarotation over time to form β-L-fucose. p-Nitrophenyl α-L-fucoside is not the preferred substrate for ClAgl29A and ClAgl29B .
