  3. Antibacterial agent 326

Antibacterial agent 326 is a bactericide that inhibits the growth of various bacterial strains. Antibacterial agent 326 inhibits biofilm formation in Escherichia coli, disrupts bacterial cell membranes, induces oxidative stress and lipid peroxidation in Escherichia coli, increases ROS levels, and reduces GSH activity. Antibacterial agent 326 can be used in studies of bacterial infections, including those caused by Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Enterococcus faecalis, Listeria spp., Bacillus subtilis, Serratia marcescens, Salmonella enteritidis and Acinetobacter calcoaceticus.

Description

Antibacterial agent 326 is a bactericide that inhibits the growth of various bacterial strains. Antibacterial agent 326 inhibits biofilm formation in Escherichia coli, disrupts bacterial cell membranes, induces oxidative stress and lipid peroxidation in Escherichia coli, increases ROS levels, and reduces GSH activity. Antibacterial agent 326 can be used in studies of bacterial infections, including those caused by Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Enterococcus faecalis, Listeria spp., Bacillus subtilis, Serratia marcescens, Salmonella enteritidis and Acinetobacter calcoaceticus[1].

In Vitro

Antibacterial agent 326 (Compound 12) at concentrations of 1.56-3.12 μg/mL inhibits the growth of S. aureus, E. faecalis, L. species, B. subtilis, S. marcescens, E. coli, S. enterica, and A. calcoaceticu, with MIC values of 1.56, 1.56, 3.12, 1.56, 3.23, 1.56, 3.12, and 1.56 μg/mL, respectively[1].
Antibacterial agent 326 produces an inhibition zone of 22.7 mm against Escherichia coli in the agar disk diffusion assay, exhibiting strong antibacterial activity[1].
Antibacterial agent 326 (0-12.5 μg/mL; up to 660 min) exhibits rapid, concentration-dependent bactericidal activity against E. coli, inhibits E. coli biofilm formation, increases the inner membrane permeability of E. coli, disrupts the membrane integrity of E. coli, and depolarizes the cell membrane of E. coli[1].
Antibacterial agent 326 (1.56-12.5 μg/mL) induces concentration-dependent metabolic dysfunction in E. coli, triggers intracellular oxidative stress, elevates ROS levels, impairs the cellular antioxidant defense system, and reduces GSH activity[1].
Antibacterial agent 326 (12.5 μg/mL) induces lipid peroxidation and increases MDA production in Escherichia coli[1].
Antibacterial agent 326 disrupts the cellular morphology of E. coli, causing wrinkles, shrinkage, collapse, and fragmentation on its surface[1].

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
