Mdl 28815
Mdl 28815 is an inhibitor of Sterol-delta 14-reductase and 2,3-oxido-squalene cyclase, with IC50 values of 0.07 μM and 2 μM, respectively. Mdl 28815 blocks cholesterol biosynthesis and causes the accumulation of specific sterol metabolites. Mdl 28815 is applicable to research related to hypercholesterolemia.

Mdl 28815 blocks cholesterol biosynthesis in HepG2 cells primarily by inhibiting Sterol-delta 14-reductase (and possibly Sterol-delta 8-ene isomerase), rather than 2,3-oxidosqualene cyclase[1].
Mdl 28815 (Compound 2b) inhibits sterol Δ14-reductase in HepG2 cells with an IC50 of 0.07 μM, and also inhibits OSC[2] in HepG2 cells.
