Actinomycosis

Definition:

Actinomycosis is an uncommon chronic granulomatous infection caused by several members of the order Actinomycetales, most notably, Actinomyces israelii. Additional species that are established but less common causes of actinomycosis include A. naeslundii/viscosus complex, A. odontolyticus, A. meyeri and A. gerencseriae.
