Cholecystokinin (CCK1)

Definition:

Cholecystokinin is a peptide hormone in the gastrointestinal system responsible for stimulating the digestion of fats and proteins. Cholecystokinin induces satiety by interacting with CCK-1 receptors located in specific regions of the back of the brain. Cholecystokinin also inhibits the expression of orexin peptide in the hypothalamus and blocks the stimulation of specific neurons by ghrelin.
