Definition:

Alanine aminotransferase (ALT) is an enzyme that is mainly aggregated in the cytosol of the hepatocyte. ALT catalyzes the transfer of amino groups from L-alanine to α-ketoglutarate, and the converted products are L-glutamate and pyruvate in the liver, which is a critical process of Citric acid cycle (CAC).
