Definition:

Alpha-Galactosidase A (α-Gal A) is a soluble lysosomal enzyme that hydrolyzes the terminal alpha-galactosyl moiety from glycolipids and glycoproteins. The predominant lipid hydrolyzed by α-Gal A is ceramide trihexoside, also known as globotriaosylceramide or Gb3.
