Definition:

Intestinal fluke infections are intestinal, food-borne parasitic zoonoses that are endemic to the Far East and Southeast Asia. The degree of clinical symptoms disease depends on worm burden. Light infections are often characterized by mild symptoms such as diarrhea, constipation, dizziness, and headache. Heavy infections cause severe abdominal pain, diarrhea, vomiting, fever, nausea, and allergic reactions, and even death.
