Definition:
The tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle is the final common oxidative pathway for carbohydrates, fats and amino acids. TCA cycle also is a central route for oxidative phosphorylation in cells, and fulfills their bioenergetic, biosynthetic, and redox balance requirements.
