Biological Activity: Antibacterial agent 106 (compound 8) is an orally active and potent antibacterial agent with antibiofilm activity. Antibacterial agent 106 shows potent antibacterial effect against multi-agent resistant (MDR)-Gram positive pathogens. Antibacterial agent 106 is highly effective in clearing 99.7% of the intracellular methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA) harbored inside macrophages[1]. Antibacterial agent 106 is a click chemistry reagent, it contains an Alkyne group and can undergo copper-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAc) with molecules containing Azide groups.
