Immunohistochemical analysis of paraffin-embedded human cervix tissue using Integrin alpha 9 Antibody (HY-P81915, 1/200). The section was pretreated using heat mediated antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6.0) for 8 minutes. The tissues were blocked with quick block buffer for 0.5 hours at room temperature, washed with PBS and PBST, and then incubated with the primary antibody overnight at 4℃. The detection was performed using an HRP conjugated compact polymer system. DAB was used as the chromogen. Tissues were counterstained with hematoxylin and mounted with DPX.

Background

  • Function

Integrin alpha 9 is an Integrin alpha-9/beta-1 (ITGA9:ITGB1) is a receptor for VCAM1, cytotactin and osteopontin. It recognizes the sequence A-E-I-D-G-I-E-L in cytotactin. ITGA9:ITGB1 may play a crucial role in SVEP1/polydom-mediated myoblast cell adhesion. Integrin ITGA9:ITGB1 represses PRKCA-mediated L-type voltage-gated channel Ca(2+) influx and ROCK-mediated calcium sensitivity in vascular smooth muscle cells via its interaction with SVEP1, thereby inhibiting vasocontraction[1].

  • Subcellular Localization

Membrane; Single-pass type I membrane protein

  • Expression

Tissue_specificity:Expressed in vascular smooth muscle cells (at protein level) (PubMed:35802072) . Expressed in the airway epithelium (at protein level) (PubMed:8245132)

  • Subunit

Heterodimer of an alpha and a beta subunit. Alpha-9 (ITGA9) associates with beta-1 (ITGB1). Integrin ITGA9:ITGB1 interacts with FBLN5 (via N-terminus).
