Verification Image
WB
  • Western blot analysis of extracts from HepG2 (lane 2(20μg), A549 (lane 3(20μg), NIH/3T3 (lane 4(20μg), C2C12 (lane 5(20μg) using Integrin alpha 9 Antibody. Proteins were transferred to a PVDF membrane and blocked with 5% BSA in TBST for 2 hour at room temperature. The primary antibody (1/1000)and Loading control antibody (Beta Actin, HY-P80438, 1/3000) was used in 5% BSA in TBST at 4°C overnight. Goat Anti-Mouse/Rabbit IgG-HRP Secondary Antibody (HY-P8004/HY-P8001, 1/10,000) was used for 1 hour at room temperature.

Background
Function:Integrin alpha-9/beta-1 (ITGA9:ITGB1) is a receptor for VCAM1, cytotactin and osteopontin. It recognizes the sequence A-E-I-D-G-I-E-L in cytotactin. ITGA9:ITGB1 may play a crucial role in SVEP1/polydom-mediated myoblast cell adhesion (By similarity). Integrin ITGA9:ITGB1 represses PRKCA-mediated L-type voltage-gated channel Ca(2+) influx and ROCK-mediated calcium sensitivity in vascular smooth muscle cells via its interaction with SVEP1, thereby inhibiting vasocontraction (PubMed:35802072)
Subcellular Localization:Membrane; Single-pass type I membrane protein
Expression:
Tissue_specificity:Expressed in vascular smooth muscle cells (at protein level) (PubMed:35802072) . Expressed in the airway epithelium (at protein level) (PubMed:8245132)
Subunit:Heterodimer of an alpha and a beta subunit. Alpha-9 (ITGA9) associates with beta-1 (ITGB1). Integrin ITGA9:ITGB1 interacts with FBLN5 (via N-terminus).

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
